Disneyland Paris’ Ratatouille Ride Closing for 2D Overhaul This October

Disneyland Paris announced that Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy will close for a lengthy refurbishment this October. The ride, translated to “Ratatouille: Remy’s Totally Crazy Adventure,” will receive a new queue scene, props, and 2D projectors. Here’s the announcement:

“This October, the family-favourite attraction Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy hangs up its chef’s hat for a major renovation. The teams at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris and Disneyland Paris are cooking up something truly special – pulling out all the stops to spice up and refresh this iconic experience at Walt Disney Studios Park. The refreshed attraction will reopen to guests in spring 2026.”

Paris’ new queue scene is reminiscent of one in Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in EPCOT. It depicts a Parisian artist’s studio, filled with canvases, paint splatters, and a still life of a fruit basket. I don’t have a photo of EPCOT’s space, but I’ll try to rectify that soon.

The renovated queue is cool, but the biggest changes are coming to the ride itself, where new, larger-than-life props and set pieces will “enhance guests’ perception of being shrunk to the size of Remy and his friends.” Guests will also be ditching the 3D glasses, as new 2D projectors are being installed. According to Disney, the decision was made after months of testing combined with guest feedback.

3D attractions can be a mixed bag. When everything’s working, they heighten immersion. But keeping those projectors calibrated is a challenge, especially with tight ride schedules. Even slight misalignment can lead to blurry visuals and headaches for guests. 3D screens often appear dimmer than standard displays, partly due to the glasses.

Whether Disney brings these updates to EPCOT remains to be seen, but it wouldn’t be surprising. Ditching 3D glasses would streamline ride operations and cut down on the cost of cleaning thousands of pairs every day.

Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy reopens at Walt Disney Studios Park in spring 2026, though the park may be known as Disney Adventure World by then.
