Red Car Trolley Closing to Pave the Way for New Avengers Campus Attractions
Once again, reality has set in after the euphoria of the D23 Parks Panel presentation. This time, Disney California Adventure fans are lamenting the loss of the Red Car Trolley, which will close in early 2025 to make room for two new Avengers Campus attractions. Presumably, the expansion will need the land currently occupied by the Red Car Trolley’s barn. Scott Gustin was the first to share this news.
Disney hasn’t confirmed if this means the end of the Red Car Trolley in California Adventure. It’s possible the barn and track could be moved to another backstage area. But with plenty of new attractions coming to the park, the Trolley might be the first DisneylandForward casualty. At the very least, let’s hope we see a stationary Red Car incorporated into the park somehow. Whatever the case, the “California” in Disney California Adventure is losing representation in the park.
So what’s replacing this trolley barn? Disney surprised fans at D23 when they announced two new attractions are coming to the Marvel-themed land.
Avengers Infinity Defense
The Avengers Infinity Defense announcement was expected. Concept art for the ride was released last year, but fans were still excited to hear concrete details.
“Technology that allows the Avengers to jump between worlds has gone missing, and King Thanos is using it to wreak havoc everywhere. Recruits will travel to iconic locations like Asgard, Wakanda, and New York City alongside the likes of big, and small, heroes. You also just might find yourself face-to-face with King Thanos, too.”
Stark Flight Lab
The second announcement was a pleasant surprise for all of us. Robert Downey Jr., aka Tony Stark, is coming to Avengers Campus. He’s also coming to theaters as Doctor Doom, but we can worry about the timeline later.
In Stark Flight Lab, Tony needs park guests to test his latest inventions. According to the concept art, 2-person pods will move along conveyor belts before being picked up and spun by stationary robotic arms. I really hope this flight simulator isn’t a brain scrambler.
Construction on the new Avengers Campus attractions begins in early 2025.
