Three Nyala Calves Will Soon Join Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Savanna
It’s a great week for Disney World animal babies. Yesterday, we reported on a baby wallaby now greeting guests at Animal Kingdom’s Jumping Junction. Today, Disney announced that three nyala calves will soon join the Animal Kingdom Lodge savanna.
Here’s how Disney’s Animals, Science, and Environment team shared the news:
“Three times the cuteness! Meet the three newest nyala calves at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. For now, they’re spending time backstage bonding with their moms, but guests may be able to spot them on the savanna soon!”
Nyalas are spiral-antlered antelope native to southeastern Africa. Males can grow to twice the size of females, which have no horns.

According to ZooTampa, nyalas are more active at night, opting to rest during the hottest part of the day. Once the calves make their savanna debut, a late-afternoon visit might improve your chances of seeing them moving around. Then again, Cast Members drive trucks loaded with salad around the savannas, so maybe these nyalas will be different.
We’ll be checking into Animal Kingdom Lodge in a couple of months. I’ll do my best to photograph Disney’s newest baby animals.
