We were treated to a familiar sound while walking through EPCOT last month – the high-pitched scream of Test Track cars racing on the outdoor track. Ride testing began on March 17, nine months after Test Track closed for a major overhaul. Hearing those vehicles flying around the old World of Motion building was a welcome sound. It means we’ll be enjoying Test Track 3.0 sooner than later.

We witnessed a steady stream of cars that day, about one every 20 seconds. Most were wrapped in the new R&D-themed color scheme, but we did spot a blue holdover vehicle. I’m sure that will get repainted and wrapped soon.

In addition to ride testing, we enjoyed seeing the show building without an Erector Set facade. The new portico still needs work, but it already looks much better than its predecessor.

Test Track 3.0 will debut later this summer.
