New “it’s a small world” Verse Coming to Magic Kingdom
Before his passing, legendary songwriter Richard M. Sherman wrote a final verse for “It’s A Small World,” the song he co-created with his brother, Robert B. Sherman. Described as his final contribution to Disney, the newly penned verse was first announced for Disneyland’s “it’s a small world” attraction. Today, Disney confirmed that the same update is coming to Magic Kingdom’s finale scene. It debuts in both parks on July 17, 2025, Disneyland’s 70th anniversary.
Gregg Sherman, Richard’s son, shared the announcement:
Gregg hopes people will listen to the new verse and “take in the message of this song and ride this ride again for the first time.” Here are the third verse’s lyrics.
“Mother earth unites us in heart and mind
And the love we give makes us humankind
Through our vast wondrous land
When we stand hand in hand
It’s a small world after all.”

Music collectors can pre-order “It’s A Small World” (70th Anniversary) on blue vinyl from the Disney Music Emporium. The single releases on July 18, 2025. Those of us without turntables can listen on Apple Music, Spotify, and more.
