Sherman Brothers Tribute Coming to Disneyland
The Sherman Brothers are being honored as part of Disneyland’s 70th anniversary celebration. While the iconic songwriting duo is best known for composing memorable movie scores, they also contributed music to the parks. Specifically, the Shermans wrote “It’s a Small World.” That song — and its composers — will be highlighted in “The Last Verse,” a short film that debuts in the Main Street Cinema on July 17.
The film unveils a third verse composed by Richard M. Sherman to commemorate the song’s 60th anniversary. It was his “final Disney contribution.”
“Mother earth unites us in heart and mind
And the love we give makes us humankind
Through our vast wondrous land
When we stand hand in hand
It’s a small world after all.”
Disneyland guests can hear the third and final verse when they ride “it’s a small world” at Disneyland starting on July 17.
