Moonlight Magic Registration: Everything You Need to Know

Moonlight Magic Registration: Everything You Need to Know

Disney Vacation Club members love Moonlight Magic. This exclusive event gives DVC owners the run of a select Disney park where they’ll be treated to shorter wait times, special character interactions, complimentary snacks, and unique entertainment. It’s like a paid after-hours event but without the payment. As you can imagine, the demand for Moonlight Magic is high, so you’ll want to be ready when registration opens.

Eligibility

Unfortunately, not all DVC members can attend Moonlight Magic. Only those who qualify for Membership Extras are eligible. In years past, those members received a blue membership card. Today, those members have the “DVC Y” designation on their digital membership card. Here’s the fine print:

Effective June 3, 2021, to obtain a Disney Vacation Club Membership Card, Members must accumulate a total of at least 150 Vacation Points purchased directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc. Effective April 4, 2016, Members who have not purchased an ownership interest directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc. will not have access to Membership Extras.

Registration windows

You’ll have two opportunities to register for Moonlight Magic. Early registration is for guests with a qualifying Disney hotel reservation. New in 2024, a qualifying reservation must be booked through DVC Member Services, either with points or cash. Cash reservations made through Disney or travel agents no longer qualify.

General registration opens closer to the event and is for all other eligible members. Unfortunately, this window usually has less availability than the early registration.

One day before your window opens, DVC will send you an email with the registration link. The link will also be available on the DVC Member website.

While registration begins at 11 AM, you’ll want to open the link earlier than that. It doesn’t matter when as long as it’s before the top of the hour. Guests who are in the waiting room before 11 will be assigned a random number once registration opens. Any guests who join after will be added to the end of the queue.

Oh, and don’t refresh that page after 11! You’ll lose your place in line.

I registered earlier today. My wife and I both logged in 20 minutes early. My wife was assigned 5354 while I got 3323. I felt good about our chances, but it was still nerve-wracking. I’ll never get used to Disney registration stress.

Ten minutes later, my number had dropped by 1000. Another 12 minutes and I was in.

You’ll be given 5 minutes to complete each page. The form is simple, so that shouldn’t be a problem. Just be sure to have your membership ID ready before you begin. This 12-digit number can be found in your member dashboard on the DVC website. It is not the number found on your DVC digital membership card.

After entering your ID, you’ll be prompted to select the DVC owner who will be responsible for checking into the event. This person must attend for the reservation to be valid.

You’ll then select the total number of guests attending the event. The default number is 5. However, if your room reservation includes more than 5 guests, everyone on the reservation can attend the party. If you do have a larger party, be sure to finalize your room reservation at least three days before the Moonlight Magic registration window opens. Guests added after that cutoff will not be able to attend.

That’s it! You’ve registered for Moonlight Magic!

You’ll receive a confirmation email with all the details as well as a link to modify or cancel your reservation. Have a great time!
