Mae and Kevin Welcome Adorable Otter Babies at Animal Kingdom
Get ready to rope drop the Otter Grotto! Animal Kingdom’s Mae and Kevin, Asian small-clawed otters, welcomed a litter of babies late last year.
“Mae, an Asian small-clawed otter mom, gave birth to a litter of adorable pups back in early December. These tiny species of otters are the smallest in the world, and in the photos, you can see mom taking care of one of her pups. Kevin, the dad to these new pups, is also actively involved in taking care of them.”

Weighing under 10 pounds, Asian small-clawed otters are the smallest of the 13 otter species. They can be found in shallow freshwater habitats throughout Southeast Asia. And of course on Discovery Island in Animal Kingdom. Disney World guests will have to wait to meet the new family, however. The crew will be hanging backstage until the babies reach growth milestones, like opening their eyes, eating solid foods, and learning to swim. You know, easy stuff for months-old babies.
