Bakso the Sumatran Tiger Cub Prepares for His First Swim at Animal Kingdom
Everyone is eager to meet Bakso, the Sumatran tiger cub born in Animal Kingdom last September. But Sohni’s baby boy needs to reach some developmental milestones before we can. Soon, his mom will teach him how to swim. It’s vital he can navigate deep waters before joining the Maharajah Jungle Trek.
In addition to swimming lessons, Bakso is also learning what it means to be a tiger. While he never strays far from his mother’s side, he is getting more comfortable exploring his backstage habitat while honing his tiger instincts.
“His exploration is important for building his tiger skills, both physically and socially. Sohni continues to play a key role in his growth, providing the nurturing presence he needs while also allowing him the space to discover the world around him. It’s clear that he is sharpening those tiger instincts, from crouching to practicing his pounces—though often, his target is still his mom, including her tail!”
