Imagineering Files Permit for Monstropolis Playground at Hollywood Studios

Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a Notice of Commencement for Monstropolis at Hollywood Studios. As usual, the NOC offers few concrete details. The filing lists 361 Cypress Dr., the former home of the Stage 1 Company Store in Muppets Courtyard. It appears WDI is using that address for all courtyard permitting.

Imagineers filed a separate NOC for the same address in March 2026. That one listed Elite A/V for electrical work in the area.

The latest permit tasks Landscape Structures, Inc. with “general construction.” The company specializes in playground structures. Previously released concept art shows a play area to the left of the Monsters, Inc. Door Vault roller coaster.

Landscape Structures is also working on Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom, where a large playground is replacing the extinct Cretaceous Trail.

Much of Monstropolis opens in 2027. The suspended roller coaster will debut later.
