Disneyland Avatar Concept Art Released

During today’s shareholder meeting, Disney CEO Bob Iger shared concept art for a new Avatar land in Disneyland. Well, we’re not sure it will be a new land. It could be an experience. Once again, Iger muddied the waters around Avatar in Disneyland by calling it a “possible new destination” during the call. Hopefully, we find out exactly what’s coming at this year’s D23 Fan Event.

Update: It is an “experience!” Josh D’Amaro wrote more about the Disneyland’s Avatar on the Disney Parks Blog:

“We were thrilled to unveil a piece of inspirational artwork developed for a potential new Avatar experience at the Disneyland Resort. We are excited about the stories our guests could experience at Walt’s original theme park destination after approval of DisneylandForward – including the chance to experience all-new Avatar adventures with a visit to Pandora.”

Anyway, let’s look at the art, which shows a themed land quite different from Animal Kingdom’s version.

Animal Kingdom’s land is centered around the Hallelujah Mountains from the first Avatar movie, but it looks as though Disneyland will get the landscapes we saw in Avatar: The Way of Water. The art shows a possible boat ride, waterfalls, and plenty of animals native to Pandora. Click or tap the above image for a larger version. The amount of detail in this photo is amazing.

I hope it happens. Florida’s land is special. I’d love to see a new spin on it in California.
