Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away Parade Debuts July 20

We finally have an opening date for Magic Kingdom’s new nighttime parade! Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away debuts on July 20 at Walt Disney World. This is the first nighttime parade to grace the park since the Main Street Electrical Parade was shuttered nearly nine years ago.

In addition to sharing the opening date, Disney also revealed the parade’s last float. As you might have guessed, the finale features Disney icons. It also pays homage to its predecessor’s iconic train.

“Closing out the celebration are the original dreamers, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, draped in sparkling new looks. Together, the duo sends us off, reminding us to believe in the power of wishing upon a star. Which of the finale friends are you most excited to see?

Swirling ribbons of starlight reveal Goofy, Pluto, Donald Duck, and Daisy Duck leading a procession of Disney moments that includes Snow White and Dopey in a twinkling minecar, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider floating toward a gleaming lantern on their boat, and Aladdin and Jasmine taking a magic carpet ride.”

Cindy Wilson choreographed Starlight’s dance routines. She drew inspiration from the films represented by the parade’s various floats, using a variety of dance styles. If that’s not enough, “every eight-count is meticulously timed to coordinate with the music and lights as they animate across the costumes and floats.” I love that attention to detail!

Want to hear the music that provides those eight-counts? Disney shared a behind-the-scenes listen of the parade’s soundtrack.

Disney also shared photos of a few of those icons wearing their parade outfits.
