Disney Imagination Cruise Ship Coming to Japan

Disney Imagination Cruise Ship Coming to Japan

Oriental Land Company has announced that its new Wish Class ship will be named the Disney Imagination. The ship will offer 2- and 3-night cruises from the Tokyo International Cruise Terminal, giving Tokyo Disney Resort visitors an option to extend their vacation at sea.

According to OLC, Disney Imagination’s maiden voyage is scheduled for the second half of Japan’s 2028 fiscal year, which runs from October 2028 through March 2029. The Disney Parks Blog says the maiden voyage will take place in 2029, so we’re comfortable reporting that it will happen in early 2029.

Guests will be able to book cruises starting six months before their departure date.

Originally announced in 2024, the Disney Imagination will be designed by Walt Disney Imagineering and built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. Disney says it will be “specially designed with Japanese guests in mind.”

The Disney Imagination stern features Ariel and Sebastian

OLC also revealed that Ariel and Sebastian from The Little Mermaid will appear on the ship’s stern. Chairperson and CEO Yumiko Takano said Ariel’s belief in her dreams makes her a fitting choice for a ship named Imagination.
