Disney Files Permit to Demolish Stage 1 Company Store at Grand Avenue

And so it begins. Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a Notice of Commencement for the demolition of the Stage 1 Company Store in Grand Avenue. The Muppets-themed store closed its doors during Covid, opening only occasionally for special events.

According to the permit, PCL Construction Services has been contracted to do demolition, infrastructure preparation, and utility modification work. While most Grand Avenue structures will be repurposed for the coming Monsters, Inc. Land, Stage 1 has been replaced by a park in the concept art. Mama Melrose’s is set to become Harryhausen’s while the MuppetVision*3D show building will become the Monstro Theater. We’re not sure what’s planned for PizzeRizzo.
