The Muppets Are Taking Over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

The Muppets are being evicted from Muppets Courtyard to make way for a Monsters Inc. land. Can you imagine getting kicked out of a place named after you? That’s cold. Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the rest aren’t leaving Hollywood Studios, however. The Muppets have been asked to take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster by Aerosmith.

“To make way for the monsters, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and more of their friends will be moving right along to Sunset Boulevard! But there’s more to the story: The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!”

I love the idea of the Muppets taking over for Aerosmith (they do need to make the ride much smoother for old guys like me). But that ride isn’t accessible for everyone. Muppet*Vision 3D and the Courtyard are. According to Disney, Imagineers are brainstorming ways to preserve that incredible space and show: “As we move forward with these changes, we are having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future.”

Could we see the Muppets replace Hall of Presidents in Magic Kingdom? The Muppets used to have a presence in Magic Kingdom’s Liberty Square. Let’s bring them back.

We don’t know when Aerosmith’s Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will close, but we suggest getting to Hollywood Studios sooner rather than later for one last ride in the rock group’s stretch limo.
