Disney Files Permit for Hollywood Studios Gateway Arch Removal

Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a notice of commencement permit to remove Hollywood Studios’ gateway arch. Last month, Disney announced plans to reimagine the Star Wars: Launch Bay and Animation Courtyard as “The Magic of Disney Animation” and “The Walt Disney Studios,” respectively. Concept art revealed that the new outdoor space would be arch-less. Today’s filing seems to confirm that to be the case.

North American Crane and Rigging, LLC, has been hired to do “site modifications.” Among other things, that company specializes in ride and attraction assembly as well as demolition and salvage.

The Magic of Disney Animation and The Walt Disney Studios debut in 2026.
