Disney Adventure’s Imagination Garden is Stunning
One of Bob Chapek’s last acts as Disney’s CEO was to purchase a cruise ship from Genting Hong Kong. While Disney paid pennies on the dollar for the unfinished vessel, it was still a surprising move. The ship, later named the Disney Adventure, is nothing like those in the current Disney fleet. Imagineers have had to design every space from scratch. As it turns out, that’s a good thing! While Disney’s Wish-class ships are beautiful, the Adventure’s concept art is eye-opening. In particular, Imagination Garden, the ship’s central hub, is stunning.
“The vibrant, open-air space will be the emotional heart and central hub of the Disney Adventure. Planted within the garden, guests will discover a state-of-the-art theatrical stage, two tasty quick-service eateries, an alluring bar, and a selection of garden-view staterooms.”

Imagineers were inspired by classic pop-up books when designing Imagination Garden. The hub has “playful, paper cut-out styled landscapes… embellished with decorative foliage of blossoming flowers, shaped topiaries, tall trees, and cascading vines.” Guests should look for Disney, Pixar, and Marvel Easter eggs in the decorations. And for the first time on a Disney ship, the Adventure includes garden-view staterooms. This popular cabin category will be a popular alternative to interior staterooms.
The Garden Stage anchors one end of the space. The stage will host Avengers Assemble!, “an action-packed signature stage show starring Marvel Super Heroes and Villains.” The other end includes a grand staircase that leads to a courtyard and a Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey topiary. The courtyard’s focal point is a three-deck tall storybook castle.
“This beautiful artwork is inspired by castles, both real and imagined, from Disney stories and theme parks across the globe. Look closely to find nods to the Walt Disney Pictures castle, Sleeping Beauty’s castle at Disneyland Paris, and Rapunzel’s castle, as well as influences from sketches done by legendary Disney artists such as Herbert Ryman, Frank Armitage, and Eyvind Earle. The Disney Imagination Garden castle will sit above a decorative waterfall surrounded by a wave motif to celebrate Disney Cruise Line’s first castle at sea.”

Imagination Gardens restaurants
Imagine Garden is home to two quick-service restaurants. Mowgli’s Eatery, inspired by The Jungle Book, specializes in Indian cuisine. The Moana-inspired Gramma Tala’s Kitchen will serve Pacific and Asian favorites.
