Bob Iger Honored with Main Street, U.S.A. Window at Disneyland

Bob Iger is having a pretty great week.

On Wednesday, Disney’s former CEO bought the Los Angeles Lakers with Josh Kushner. He’s becoming a Disney Legend as we speak. But the biggest honor of all may have come this morning, when he received a window on Disneyland’s Main Street, U.S.A.

I’d take the last one over the others. I’m a Spurs fan, after all.

Iger’s window is located above the entrance to the Emporium. His title — Chief Architect for New Century Builders — is accompanied by the motto, “Looking forward to your tomorrow!” Several other words are painted on the glass, including “courageous,” “confidence,” “excellence,” “innovation,” “curiosity,” and “optimism.”

Main Street windows are among Disney’s highest honors, recognizing people who have left a lasting mark on the company. The tradition dates back to Disneyland’s opening day on July 17, 1955.

Here’s what Iger said about the honor:

“I stand here with a deep sense of wonder and humility and appreciation and gratitude for having the opportunity not just to work for the company that Walt Disney founded, but to run the company that he founded, and then to have the opportunity to be given this.

“It’s just so special to me to stand here, Town Square, Main Street, thinking about this place over 70 years ago, thinking about the millions and millions and millions of people that have come through, thinking about the thousands and thousands of cast members that have worked here and contributed mightily to what this is, and thinking about the legacy of the people who are represented in these windows, and realizing I’m now among them.”
