The Dread Family busts in Disney World's Haunted Mansion queue

What Replaces Broken Haunted Mansion Doom Buggies?

In the late 1960s, Roger Roggie and Bert Brundage developed a closed-circuit ride system that was later dubbed the Omnimover by Disney Imagineer Bob Gurr. The Omnimover is a chain of ride vehicles that operate on top of a track. On the Haunted Mansion, these vehicles are called Doom Buggies. Ideally, the design allows for constant motion throughout the ride, but in practice, that’s rarely the case. My family always cheers when we get through Spaceship Earth or Haunted Mansion without any pauses.

Since each ride vehicle is part of a greater whole, fixing broken Haunted Mansion Doom Buggies requires them to be removed from the train, repaired backstage, and replaced in their original position. And since Disney never wants to spoil the illusion of their attractions, they add the footstool placeholder you see here.
