Universal Kids Resort Shares Official Park Map Before Grand Opening
Ahead of its official debut next week, Universal Kids Resort has shared its first official park map. For now, it’s only available on the resort’s website. We visited the park twice this week during previews, but paper maps weren’t available. Universal Kids Resort also doesn’t have a mobile app.
We’re not sure if printed maps will be available once the park officially opens. If you’re planning a visit, you might want to bookmark this page or Universal Kids Resort’s website so you’ll have the map handy. The park may be smaller than Universal’s typical offerings, but there’s still plenty to ride, explore, and eat inside Frisco’s resort.
The map includes useful information like ride height requirements, accessibility details, dining locations, and more. But while the various free-play areas and sensory gardens appear on the map itself, they’re not identified in the attraction listing along the right side. They’re easy enough to find once you’re inside the park, but if you’re trying to plan your day in advance, just know the list view isn’t comprehensive.
What about an app?
Most theme park fans have gotten used to relying on mobile apps. At larger parks, they’re practically required. But at Universal Kids Resort, not having one isn’t a necessity. At least not yet.
As attendance grows, though, that could change. Navigation is only part of it. One of the biggest benefits of a theme park app is being able to check wait times without walking across the park. During our two preview visits, we didn’t spot any digital wait time displays. Those could still appear before opening day, but they weren’t available during previews.
As an aside, Universal Kids Resort is also not offering Universal Express Passes. We saw two signs advertising the service on Tuesday. But crews quickly covered the Express Pass logo with one for the park’s “VIP Experience” offering.
Officially, Universal isn’t saying much about a possible app. The resort’s FAQ only states:
“Universal Kids Resort will not have a mobile app at this time. We recommend signing up for emails here for the latest updates regarding our resort.”
We asked several Team Members when an app might be available. While they’re all on board with getting one, nobody had any information to share.
