Universal Kids Resort Adds Signs With Character Appearance Times

Universal Kids Resort still doesn’t have an app. For the most part, that’s not a problem. The park is small enough that walking over to a ride to check its wait time isn’t a heavy lift. But the lack of digital information has created some friction for guests. Specifically, those hoping to meet Shrek, SpongeBob, Gabby, Poppy, or a few Minions.

Universal now has a low-tech solution: A-frame signs. I noticed them for the first time yesterday, and they’re working. Shrek and Fiona weren’t out when I walked through their swamp. Any other day, I’d have moved on to Jurassic World. But the sign said they were scheduled to arrive in a few minutes, so I stuck around. Other guests saw it and did the same.

Signs only displayed the next appearance, not a full-day schedule. The only character that didn’t get an A-frame was the Baby Raptor in Jurassic World Adventure Camp.

One of the questions I get most often about Universal Kids Resort is how I manage to get so many photos of the characters. Sure, I go to the park a few times a week, but rarely for more than an hour at a time. So it’s been luck. Plenty of other guests have had the wrong kind of luck. These signs should help.

But we’d still love a Universal Kids Resort app.
