Universal Kids Resort Adds a Jurassic World Gyrosphere
A very cool prop arrived at Universal Kids Resort for the park’s opening day. A Gyrosphere, the round ride vehicle introduced in Jurassic World, now sits inside Jurassic World Adventure Camp.
The Gyrosphere is one of the film’s coolest elements: a transparent ride vehicle that lets guests safely roll through dinosaur territory. Zach and Gray, two brothers unimpressed with regular dino tours, take one on an unauthorized joyride. Naturally, that’s when the Indominus rex shows up, showing the kids the error of their ways by biting through the ball’s outer shell.

A second Gyrosphere appears in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, when Claire and Franklin use one to escape predators, stampeding herbivores, and an erupting volcano. They eventually sail over a cliff and into the ocean, leaving Owen to fend for himself.
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, the children’s animated series, also features the vehicles.
Universal Creative knows these props have appeal. Gyrospheres have shown up at parks on both coasts. One rolls through the Universal Mega Movie Parade in Florida, while another was featured at this year’s Universal Fan Fest Nights in Hollywood. Both look closer to the versions seen on screen.

The Gyrosphere at Universal Kids Resort doesn’t appear to be a movie prop. Its seats and other details don’t match the onscreen versions. Instead, we believe Frisco’s ball may be the one featured on the Jurassic World Live Tour. That tour also included a Jeep very similar to one found outside Jurassic World Outfitters.

Wherever it came from, the Gyrosphere is a great addition to Universal Kids Resort. Its patina gives character to a brand-new park. And not for nothing, it’s one of the touches that should resonate as much with parents as with their children. If only we could take it out for a joyride.
