The Harmonious Barges are Gone Forever, Thank Goodness

EPCOT’s World Showcase Lagoon is no longer an eyesore. I became depressed the first time I saw the Harmonious barges littering the water, obstructing EPCOT’s beautiful views. No matter how good the show was (I actually loved it), the payoff wasn’t worth the clutter. If only the barges could have been taken backstage during the day.

Dang. Those are even uglier in person.

Disney did try to address the ugliness by adding water features to the barges. But it didn’t really work as intended. Look closely or you might not see the fountains.

Harmonious ran from October 1, 2021, until April 2, 2023. It replaced Epcot Forever. Ironically, Epcot Forever replaced it. But that was only a temporary solution. Luminous will debut on December 5, 2023.
