Skip the Stretch: Magic Kingdom’s Haunted Mansion Accessibility Tip

Magic Kingdom’s Haunted Mansion is one of our favorite rides. We love the special details in the outdoor queue line, including the hearse and the funny gravestones. One section of the queue for Haunted Mansion does provide an accessibility concern for individuals who have sensory challenges. This is when the interior room “stretches.” It’s a darkened room, with flashing lights and lots of noise. It’s overwhelming for many people.

Fortunately, Disney World has a solution in place! Before you enter the room, tell the Cast Member (CM) that you need to skip the stretch. The CM will direct you to a corner of the room near a door. Before the pre-show starts, a CM will open a door to the outside for you. Usually, the CM will give you a paper ticket to hand to the next CM. Sometimes they run out, but that’s not a problem.

You’ll take a short walk outside before meeting another CM, who will let you back into the building. You’ll slide seamlessly into the queue right before the moving walkway to the Doom buggies. I’ve heard that there are 999 happy haunts, and they have room for one more.
