Photos: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Photographing Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a real challenge. Who would’ve thought that taking pictures of cutting-edge animatronics from a moving boat in poor lighting could produce mixed results? True to form, my first attempt at shooting Tiana’s was a disaster. Thankfully, we were evacuated from that ride, giving me a second opportunity later in the day. Those pics turned out much better.

Our Tiana’s Review: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure: A Celebration of Food, Jazz, and Community

We were fortunate to get another boarding group the next day. I decided to swap out my prime lens for a zoom. While I got some decent interior shots, the prime did a much better job in low light. Here’s the gear I used:

Camera: Sony A7IV
Prime lens: Sony FE 35mm F1.4 GM (day 1)
Zoom lens: Sony – FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS (day 2)

I shot in RAW and edited the following images in Photoshop. My goal was to make everything appear as it did on the ride.

I can’t wait to photograph this ride again. Two-and-a-half attempts just aren’t enough. I need at least five more trips through the party scene before I’ll be comfortable shooting in that room.

These are my least favorite photos of the bunch. I’d love to have had a wide lens to shoot this space. Many of these photos just feel tight.

The Annual Passholder preview lines moved so quickly that I didn’t get as many pics as I’d like inside the queue. Oh, well. One more reason to go back.
