Photos: Magic Kingdom’s Tom Sawyer Island
Earlier this week, we wrote about Disney’s plans to reimagine Rivers of America into a wilderness race course for two Cars-themed attractions. Most guests rarely float to Tom Sawyer Island or sail on the Liberty Belle, but the move upset many fans. The river and island are idyllic. Even if visitors don’t fully utilize the area, they can appreciate its beauty as they walk from Liberty Square to Frontierland. It has vintage Disney Park vibes.
But Magic Kingdom needs to build capacity, and the river and its occupants are getting booted. We recently visited Tom Sawyer Island (our first raft trip in over a decade) and I took some photos. I didn’t get pics of everything; I didn’t realize I might not be able to go back. My fingers are crossed that it will still be open in November.
Here is our visual love letter to the classic attraction (with a few Liberty Belle pics thrown in).
