Magic Kingdom's Cinderella Castle during Disney's Not-So-Spooky Spectacular

There is so much to do at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. I know some guests have this party down to a science, but I do not. On our recent visit — which was our first — I wanted to make sure we didn’t miss any of the headliner events:

  • Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular
  • Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular
  • Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade
  • The Cadaver Dans Barbershop Quartet

We did pretty well, but we did miss the Cadaver Dans. I was bummed, but honestly, we had a great time regardless. And it gives us a reason to go back.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a ticketed event held after-hours at Magic Kingdom in Disney World. All 2023 parties have sold out.

What we didn’t want to do was waste time staking out prime viewing areas for any of those headliners. That allowed us to…

  • Score bags of candy
  • Ride TRON Lightcycle / Run and other attractions
  • Eat snacks
  • Meet characters

And it worked out great. I’ll write more about the parade and the Spelltacular, but for now, let’s talk about Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular.

What is Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular?

Fireworks, Jack Skellington, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, lasers, projections, and Cinderella Castle. Disney does nighttime spectaculars better than anyone, and this one is no exception. The projections on the castle were fantastic.

But…

This is where the caveat comes in. Our viewing spot prevented us from seeing everything. We were far stage right, so we didn’t have a clear view of Jack or any of the main projections showing up on the front of the castle.

Decent location to view Fireworks near Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom

My family has seen many nighttime spectaculars from the hub. We used to get FastPasses for the Plaza Rose Garden viewing area (I was sad to see that go away). Watching fireworks from the hub is awesome. So if you’re new to Disney fireworks or have children who are really into the characters, grab a spot down in front. If you’re like me (a curmudgeon), then maybe look for an area somewhat removed from the crowds.

I love the photos I was able to get. The fireworks, lasers, and projections created beautiful lighting and intense shadows when viewed from that angle. I hope you enjoy the results!

Note: I was asked if these photos are AI-generated. Nope. It’s all Disney greatness, a decent camera, and some minor Lightroom cleanup.

I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about spending big money for our family to attend Mickey’s Not-So-Scary, but after seeing these photos on my camera roll, I was so happy we did.
