Phase Two of Astro Orbiter Refurbishment Set to Begin

My family visited Magic Kingdom on Saturday to enjoy Tomorrowland’s best attractions: Carousel of Progress and the PeopleMover. We encountered a bottleneck in the area, thanks to newly erected construction walls near the PeopleMover entrance. Those same walls previously housed a crane that dismantled the Astro Orbiter earlier this year. While the crane wasn’t in the park over the weekend, it has since arrived. And that’s great news. Phase two of the Astro Orbiter refurbishment is about to begin.

We’re not sure what an updated Astro Orbiter will entail. Mariann and I hope its ride vehicles will be more accessible. Previously, those ride vehicles posed problems for some guests needing to transfer and teens or adults unable to ride safely by themselves. With the crane now on site (sorry, no photos), Astro Orbiter’s rockets may soon be revealed. Hopefully, we’ll find that they’ve been substantively updated (or replaced) and not simply touched up. If only I were still at Disney World to take those photos.
