Olaf Draws Will Use In-Person Virtual Queues

Olaf Draws Will Use In-Person Virtual Queues

The Magic of Disney Animation soft-opened at Hollywood Studios today. One of its most popular experiences will undoubtedly be Olaf Draws!, a drawing class hosted by the Audio-Animatronic snowman.

As Tyler noted in his review of the new attraction, the building may struggle to accommodate the crowds drawn by Olaf and the other characters. So Disney plans to use a virtual queue when necessary to keep things moving.

Fortunately, guests won’t have to open the My Disney Experience app at 7 AM for the privilege. When demand exceeds the building’s capacity, Cast Members will distribute return times in person at the attraction. Guests will receive a text message when it’s time to return.

This feels like a throwback to paper FastPasses. Anyone who remembers rope-dropping Hollywood Studios and walk-running to Toy Story Midway Mania knows what I’m talking about.

I’m not suggesting Olaf will have that kind of staying power, but I can see crowds making The Magic of Disney Animation an early morning priority. At least for a little while.
