New Permit Reveals Building Layout for Piston Peak and Villains Land

A newly surfaced wastewater exhibit tied to Project SNK-TL provides our clearest look yet at where future structures for Piston Peak and a Disney Villains-themed land will be located inside Magic Kingdom.

The exhibit can be found in an email submitted to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection as part of utility planning work for the park’s upcoming expansion. While the document is focused on wastewater routing, it includes simplified “facility” outlines that indicate where major show and ride structures are expected to reside. These outlines are not architectural designs and shouldn’t be read as final layouts. Instead, they function as utility-planning footprints. Still, they’re valuable. They show how the Piston Peak area and the Villains land are arranged, how many major structures each land will require, and how those areas tie into Magic Kingdom’s existing infrastructure.

And the buildings are substantial. The large Villains attraction comes in around 80,000 square feet. Piston Peak’s ride structure is over 50,000.

The exhibit also includes a structure found just behind the Haunted Mansion queue. We’re speculating (alright, hoping) that it’s the location of the long-rumored Haunted Mansion–themed lounge. Demand for Magic Kingdom’s Beak and Barrel and the Haunted Mansion Parlor aboard the Disney Treasure has been strong. Both spaces show how effective beautifully themed, attraction-centric lounges can be. A Haunted Mansion hang, found in the shadow of its namesake on the way to a Villains land? That’s just too good.

Before I get too carried away, it’s also possible that that facility reflects a repositioned or expanded Haunted Mansion queue. But that’s considerably less exciting.

Whatever ultimately lands there, Bioreconstruct recently shared aerial photos showing where crews have already begun clearing the space. Maybe we’ll learn more after his next flyover.

The exhibit also raises questions about how the Walt Disney Railroad will be routed through the new Villains land. Aahs feels significant changes are coming:

“The two facilities that overlay the former site of the railroad are what really caught my eye. I’m assuming this is a strong indicator that the Walt Disney World Railroad is getting relocated. Each facility doesn’t appear to overlap the former railroad location enough to look like the facility would go over or under the railroad.”

So we’re doing a lot of guesswork here, but we are certain of one thing. The document confirms that these land expansions will rely on new internal wastewater routing rather than simple perimeter tie-ins. That underscores the scale of work happening behind the scenes. While Disney has yet to release detailed plans for either land, this filing offers an early, technical snapshot of how Magic Kingdom is being transformed for Piston Peak, a Villains Land, and perhaps a Haunted Mansion lounge.
