More Magic: Second Generation Interactive Wands Debut at Universal Orlando

Second Generation Interactive Wands are coming to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort on March 1. The new wands offer upgrades over their Gen 1 counterparts, including illumination effects, haptic vibrations, and Universal Play integrations. The Gen 2 collection also includes four new designs.

“Second Generation Interactive Wands will take you on thrilling adventures throughout all three parks with Universal Play in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. You can be prepared for chilling encounters in Knockturn Alley, perfect your elemental spells, and even learn a couple pranks if you’re feeling a little mischievous. With Universal Play, you can unlock exclusive adventures that will further develop your aptitude as a wizard — unlocking a variety of achievements (and earn bragging rights).”

By combining Second Generation Wands with Universal Play, guests can use more personal spell effects, earn points for their Hogwarts Houses, and cast Patronuses. They’ll also be able to see how other House members are faring. The House Cup will be awarded daily. Be sure to create a personalized Wizard Profile to take advantage of these new features. Universal Play is available in the Universal Orlando Resort app.

New magic locations

Five new wand magic locations are coming to Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, bringing the total to 30. Existing spots have been upgraded to include “new visceral casting special effects.” Spellbooks have been added at select locations, as well.

New Second Generation Interactive Wand design and a foldable map

Each new wand comes with a map highlighting the magic locations. Digital maps are also available in Universal Play. Guests can purchase wands in the following locations:

  • Ollivanders Wand Shop (Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley locations)
  • Wands by Gregorovitch (Diagon Alley)
  • Cosme Acajor Baguettes Magiques (The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic when Epic Universe opens)

Second Generation Interactive Wands will be available in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort on March 1.
