Moana’s Voyage Coming to the Polynesian Island Tower

Kids are gonna love this update. Moana’s Voyage, a splash area, is coming to the new Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. The water feature includes a lifesize version of Moana and her canoe. I don’t want to go there, but I will. In my day, we had a concrete square pool and nothing else. And we liked it! The new Poly tower will also be home to the zero-entry Cove Pool.

Terrace Gardens

Disney shared plenty of other details about DVC’s newest property. We’re finally getting our first glimpse of the Terrace Gardens. You can see one of those four spaces in our April construction photo.

DVC Members and guests will have exclusive access to these gardens, which offer “vibrant artwork, lush foliage, and uniquely themed seating areas. The distinctively designed hideaways will offer families a serene locale to gather and take in the views during their stay.”

The concept art doesn’t do the space justice. There aren’t enough people. These gardens are going to be parked during Happily Ever After.

Wailulu Bar & Grill

The Island Tower is also home to Wailulu Bar & Grill, a restaurant specializing in Polynesian fare. Guests can sit indoors or enjoy outdoor seating near the pool.

“Wailulu” gets its name from the Hawaiian words “wai,” which means water, and “lulu” which means calm, which is very fitting as this unique restaurant will boast breathtaking views of the Seven Seas Lagoon.

Disney Parks Blog

The indoor dining room will feature Polynesian-inspired tropical fish sculptures. The fish, crafted from recycled materials, are swimming toward a “grand textile piece featured in the bar area, representing a colorful coral reef.” A Polynesian Stick Chart can be found in the center of the room. The ancient navigation tool is “composed of beautiful shades of blue, teal, and green faux stained-glass [that] will create an ambiance to dive in and explore the mouthwatering menu!” Moana will also be featured in a painting in the restaurant.

The casual outdoor space offers an all-day lunch and dinner menu influenced by Polynesian ingredients. Coffee and pastries will be available in the morning.

Guests will get their first views of Moana’s Voyage and the rest when the Polynesian Island Tower opens on December 17, 2024.
