Lilypad, New Music Coming to Alien Swirling Saucers
Lilypad is coming to Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios. The Toy Story 5 antagonist-turned-friend will serve as the featured DJ at Alien Swirling Saucers. Her new soundtrack, Lilypad’s Jams, debuts September 25.
Here’s how the Disney Parks Blog announced her arrival:
“With DJ Lilypad on the 1s and 2s, this fresh new lineup features reimagined Toy Story classics and brand-new songs written just for this attraction that are sure to have you riding again and again. Lilypad is the maestro behind the music, connecting to the internet to remix and mashup different tunes from a variety of music styles and genres.”
Imagineers went to Nashville to record the music. Tracks are set to pop, country, EDM, alt-rock, and more. Iconic Toy Story songs like “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” “We Belong Together,” and “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away” will be featured in new arrangements. Original songs were also recorded.
Does anybody want to swirl around to “Pizza Planet Promo” or “Spin It Back, Lilypad”? You can.
Thomas Niederhiser, Senior Creative Producer at Walt Disney Imagineering, said his team wanted to come up with something new for that alien ride. “We wanted to think about the music in a completely new way—taking beloved songs from the Toy Story films, and create catchy new original songs, that are singable, sincere and a little cheesy, as one is about Pizza Planet,” he said.
Disney even promises that Partysaurus Rex will get some airtime.
You won’t have to ride Alien Swirling Saucers to enjoy Lilypad. Disney said she’ll be “DJing for all honorary toys in the backyard.” Between songs, she’ll doodle in her drawing app, ask guests to unscramble puzzles, and share home videos featuring her Toy Story friends.
I can’t wait to experience this in person. I hope she doesn’t call me an old man toy. Wait, I hope she does.
Lilypad debuts in Hollywood Studios on September 25, 2026. Toy Story 5 hits Disney+ on September 23.
