Imagineers Unveil Tropical Americas Model

We recently told you about Disney’s plans to reimagine DinoLand U.S.A. in Animal Kingdom. Last week, Disney Imagineering gave us our first look at the new land. In an Instagram video, Imagineer Neal Emery, Principal Landscape Designer, shared a 3D model of Tropical Americas. The glimpses were all too quick, but we’re excited with what we saw.

Emery said Imagineers visited Mexico to draw inspiration for Tropical Americas:

“[We] recently took a trip down to Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula to study culture, art, and the archaeology of the Maya. Imagineers built 3D models to help visualize the stories that we’re trying to tell, to bring the fantastical and magical to life.”

The Yucatán will serve as the setting for the Indiana Jones attraction in Tropical Americas. I would bet that Imagineers will also visit Colombia and central Mexico to draw inspiration for the Encanto and Coco attractions, respectively. Coco is a fictional town, but it was inspired by Santa Fe de la Laguna in the Michoacán region of Mexico.
