Imagineers File Permits for Studio Theater and Walt Disney Studios Entrance Signage
Walt Disney Imagineering is making sure no one wanders into The Walt Disney Studios later this summer, wondering where they are. Two Notice of Commencement permits have been filed for 755 Stage Lane and 561 Stage Lane — the homes of The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure and the former Animation Courtyard archway. Both locations are slated to receive new signage from Design Communications Ltd.
The Mermaid theater already has a large marquee, but this permit adds the venue’s official name — Studio Theater — to the building’s exterior. The typeface is reminiscent of the street signs found at the original Walt Disney Studios in Burbank. The clean floating letters appear on both sides of the show’s marquee.
Meanwhile, over at the former Animation Courtyard entrance, a new “The Walt Disney Studios” sign will be installed on an Art Deco planter. It’s a more subtle welcome than the arch, but also much more in line with what’s found in Burbank.
