Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Added to Early Entry

Update: A Disney Cast Member has confirmed that Cosmic Rewind will be part of EPCOT’s Early Entry offerings. Magic Kingdom guests aren’t as fortunate. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will not be included in that park’s Early Entry lineup.

Earlier today, Disney announced that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure would be pivoting from virtual to standby queues on February 25. Disney then updated their Cosmic Rewind webpage showing Early Entry hours would begin the same day. They did not, however, update the official list of Early Entry attractions to include EPCOT’s most popular ride. So what does this mean? While I think Cosmic will allow Disney resort guests to board early, we won’t be certain until EPCOT opens next Tuesday (or Disney makes a more specific announcement).

Disney’s website content isn’t always accurate. Many bloggers were made aware of that fact last week. But it makes sense for Cosmic Rewind to be included in the Early Entry attractions. Its post-Virtual Queue lines could be extremely long. Opening 30 minutes early can accommodate approximately 1,000 riders.

While Cosmic Rewind being added to Early Entry is good news for Disney resort guests who can take advantage of the perk, it won’t be ideal for those staying off-site. They’ll be greeted with a substantial wait time once it’s their turn to queue up.

And the update might not be welcome news to EPCOT resort guests who use the International Gateway entrance. That gate is perfect for boarding Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure 30 minutes early, but it won’t be for those wanting to get to World Discovery ahead of the guests who use EPCOT’s main gate.

This goes to show that enjoying a Disney World vacation requires extensive planning. In this instance, we’re trading Virtual Queue strategies for rope-drop strategies. I’ll continue to sleep in and slam rides before the parks close.
