Grand Floridian to Add New Bar in Lobby Refurbishment
Disney has revealed a sneak peek at the upcoming Grand Floridian lobby refurbishment. Along with new carpet, updated colors, and botanical touches, the renovated space will also feature a brand-new bar.
“Inspired by the lobby’s iconic birdcage, the bar will pay tribute to the resort’s Victorian roots with intricate woodwork, stained glass, and brass accents. You may even spot colorful birds in the stained glass and murals throughout the atrium! Opposite the bar, guests will still find the Victorian cage-style elevator that fans know and love. ”

Don’t expect dramatic changes. Disney Imagineers are committed to “maintaining the heart and story of the Grand Floridian” throughout the refurbishment. The carpet will feature “Victorian-inspired borders and scrollwork featuring hand-drawn florals inspired by turn-of-the-century botanical studies.”

The Grand Floridian might not be my vibe, but she sure is beautiful. I have zero doubt that the updated lobby and bar will make her even more special. The only downside? The hotel’s iconic gingerbread display will not be available this year. Construction on the Grand Floridian lobby begins Monday.
