Gideon’s Bakehouse Cookies Are Worth Joining a Virtual Queue

A couple of years ago, I saw a picture of a chocolate chip cookie that boggled my mind. In fact, I wasn’t even sure it was a cookie. It looked like a mass of chocolate chips. And since I’ve been known to eat chocolate chips by the handful, I was all in. The cookie was from Gideon’s Bakehouse. Gideon’s would soon be opening a shop in Disney Springs. Seeing as I’m a geek for Disney and cookies, I was pretty happy. I put a note on my phone to check out this place on our next visit. But never would I have expected the demand for these cookies would result in the need for a virtual queue to even get in the bakery’s front doors.

The Gideon’s Bakehouse virtual queue

Yes, it’s extreme. But Gideon’s virtual queue is a good thing logistically. Although it’s not always needed or used, busier times make it a necessity.

Joining the queue is simple. An employee near the entrance will take your info. Our family will shop in Uniqlo or eat at Wine Bar George to pass the time. While the return time can be hours on busier weekends, we rarely have to wait more than 30 to 45 minutes on weekday visits.

Once inside, you’ll notice how tiny the bakery is. It has a fantastic vibe, thanks in part to artwork by Mr. Eyes (Michael Reyes).

Gideon’s Bakehouse Cookies are nearly a half pound each. There are a number of menu mainstays, including:

  • Original Chocolate Chip
  • Peanut Butter Crunch
  • Pistachio Toffee Dark Chocolate
  • Triple Chocolate Chip
  • Cookies & Cream

In addition, they unveil a limited-time specialty cookie each month. Seasonal cookies also appear throughout the year. You can find the complete menu here.

The Triple Chocolate Cookie is my favorite. Gideon’s cuts the sweet with chunks of sea salt. You can see a few flakes in the photo above.

The cookies are the main attraction, but the cakes can’t be ignored.

We love buying plenty of Gideon’s to take home with us after our vacation. They’ll stay fresh for a while. Just don’t try to be a hero by eating an entire cookie in one sitting.
