First Look: Life Day Chewbacca Coming to Disney Jollywood Nights and Disneyland

Disney has shared a first look at Chewbacca dressed to the nines in his Life Day robe. Thankfully, guests on both coasts will have a chance to meet the Star Wars legend in person. The Wookiee makes his first appearance tomorrow night during Disney Jollywood Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and on November 17 at Disneyland.

If you’re around my age, you probably remember Life Day from the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special. For younger fans, Life Day is celebrated on the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk. It’s a holiday centered around family, friendship, and hope. The special aired only once in 1978. It was appointment viewing for my generation, but that doesn’t mean it was good. In fact, it was pretty terrible.

I wish that meant that lines to meet Chewbacca holding his Life Day blue orb would be short. But we all know that won’t be the case. I’m willing to make the sacrifice. After all, it won’t be my first time waiting to meet Chewie.

In addition to Life Day Chewbacca, guests attending Jollywood Nights can also meet Miguel from Coco, Bing Bong from Inside Out, and Partysaurus Rex from Toy Story, among many others.
