Everything Announced at the 2024 D23 Disney Entertainment Showcase
Disney announced several new movies and TV shows at the D23 Disney Entertainment Showcase earlier tonight. I wasn’t in the Honda Center, so I had to witness the presentation from afar. And by that I mean, I refreshed Twitter/X repeatedly for three hours. I’m sure the excitement in that arena was through the roof. Maybe I’ll be there next time.
But I do want to share everything that was announced. Disney released several trailers to the general public. Others were screened exclusively to the D23 attendees. I’ll only include the legal stuff here.
Moana 2
In theaters November 27, 2024

Monster Jam

Avatar: Fire and Ash
The third of five Avatar movies opens December 19, 2025.
Win or Lose
Pixar’s original series is coming to Disney+ on December 6, 2024.
Dream Productions
Inside Out’s spinoff is coming to Disney+ in 2025.
Toy Story 5
Your favorite toys will be up against electronics in this movie written and directed by Andrew Stanton.
Hoppers
Original Pixar movie about a human who can “hop” her mind into the mind of a beaver. It stars Jon Hamm, Bobby Moynihan, and Piper Curda. Coming to theaters in spring 2026.
Elio
D23 attendees saw a new trailer. We’ll have to settle for the one that was released last year. Coming to theaters June 13, 2025.
Incredibles 3
Brad Bird returns at the helm of the iconic Pixar franchise. No further details were announced.
Zootopia 2
Gary the Snake, played by Ke Huy Quan, joins Judy Hops in the Zootopia sequel. It opens on November 26, 2025.

Frozen 3
Frozen 3 will be broken up into two movies. The first will hit theaters in 2027.

The Greatest Showman: A New Musical
A live musical made its way into the presentation!

Skeleton Crew
This gave me 80s kid adventure movie vibes. Think E.T., Explorers, and The Goonies. It premieres on Disney+ on December 3, 2024.
Andor
Diego Luna shared behind-the-scenes footage from season two of Andor. K-2SO and Director Krennic will have roles. No further details were announced.

The cast sent a video message for D23 attendees since they’re filming the movie and couldn’t attend in person. It opens July 25, 2025.

Ironheart
Ironheart (Riri Williams) is a genius inventor who creates the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man. This series is coming to Disney+ in 2025.
Daredevil: Born Again
Charlie Cox is back as Daredevil. Coming to Disney+ in March 2025.

Percy Jackson
Season two will focus on the Sea of Monsters book. No further details were released.
Freakier Friday

I don’t usually love live-action remakes, but I’ll make an exception for anything starring Stitch. It arrives in theaters in summer 2025.

Snow White
This live-action remake stars Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot. I’m intrigued. It opens in theaters on March 21, 2025.
Tron: Ares
I love Tron: Legacy’s score. Daft Punk nailed it. But that band is no more, so Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross from Nine Inch Nails stepped in to score the third Tron film. I’m cool with that. Tron: Ares opens in 2025.

Lin-Manuel Miranda composed and arranged the music for the Lion King prequel, which opens December 20, 2024.
