Eddie Sotto, Legendary Walt Disney Imagineer, Dies at 67
Eddie Sotto, a longtime Walt Disney Imagineering designer, has passed away at the age of 67. He may be best known for his work on Main Street, U.S.A. at Euro Disneyland (now Disneyland Paris), which many consider the most richly detailed version of the street in any park.
In recent years, Sotto also became a welcome presence on social media, where he regularly shared insights and candid opinions on theme park design. Each post felt like a masterclass.

Early in his career, Sotto worked for Knott’s Berry Farm, contributing to Camp Snoopy, as well as Landmark Entertainment Group. His work on the Six Flags Laboratory of Scientific Wonders project caught the attention of another legendary Imagineer, Tony Baxter, who hired Sotto as an Imagineer in 1986.
During his time at Disney, Eddie Sotto worked on attractions like Indiana Jones Adventure, Mission: SPACE, and Pooh’s Hunny Hunt. More importantly, he championed cohesive, story-driven environments. With Sotto, decoration was never the same thing as theme. If you walk into a land and feel it more than see it, you can thank Sotto and designers like him for setting that standard.
Sotto retired from Walt Disney Imagineering in 1999 as Senior Vice President of Concept Design. In 2004, he founded SottoStudios, focusing on themed entertainment and experiential design for clients including Universal, Paramount, Porsche, and Disney.
