DiVine in Disney's Animal Kingdom

DiVine Creates Beautiful Moments for Animal Kingdom Guests

I make no apologies for writing yet another article about DiVine. She’s a throwback to vintage Disney Parks. You know, before everything was tied to a Disney movie, TV show, or character. Often hidden, always awesome, DiVine usually hangs back and lets Animal Kingdom guests marvel at her from a distance. But that didn’t happen last month. Instead, she interacted with a number of guests, all much younger than me.

First up, she saw a young girl offering her a flower. She walked across the path, leaned down, and gently accepted it. I’ve never seen DiVine do anything like it, so I was slow with the camera (I think I was mobile ordering Satu’li Canteen). It was a great moment.

The best interaction came when she spotted a family with a baby. She moved to block the path (gently) and created a tunnel with her body and stilts. The baby was mesmerized. I hope he sees these pictures someday.

Unfortunately, I missed DiVine’s last act. I had run to catch the family with the baby. I wanted to send them these photos and needed their email address. While I was gone, she spotted another young girl, this one wearing a princess costume. She held out her “arm” for the girl to dance and twirl around. According to my friends, the girl sensed how special a moment it was and teared up.

I regularly find DiVine on our Animal Kingdom days, but she’s never acted like this. I hope it continues.
