Disney World Wait Times Spike Between Christmas and New Year’s

As expected, Walt Disney World is seeing a massive surge of guests this week. The Christmas holidays are always the busiest time of year in the parks, with numbers peaking the week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Here are some of the longer wait times as of 4:15 PM on December 27.

I checked wait times on Christmas day, and none of the attractions’ standby wait times were as high as today’s numbers. In fact, guests only waited 15 minutes for Kilimanjaro Safaris at one point on December 25. Flight of Passage was only a 70-minute at the same time.

As you can imagine, Genie+ prices are extremely high due to the crowds. Passes for multiple parks and Hollywood Studios have sold out.

Touring Plans’ Crowd Calendar shows every day between now and December 31 as a level 9 (out of 10). I haven’t seen any 10s this year, so this is as bad as crowds get visiting Disney World.

I sent the wait times to a friend before writing this article. Her response:

Not horrific for today. But I also wouldn’t go.

Visiting Disney World during the holidays can be wonderful. After-hours parties, special treats, and holiday decorations are not to be missed. But all of those things are available starting in early November. As great as a Christmas Disney vacation might sound, the reality might be a little less magical than you hoped.
