Disney Testing Resort Airline Check-In at Pop Century
Resort Airline Check-In might be coming back to Walt Disney World! Disney is testing the uber-popular resort perk on a limited basis. According to BlogMickey.com, guests staying at Disney’s Pop Century Resort who are also flying Southwest Airlines can check their bags at the hotel before departing for MCO. They will have to check in with the airline before Cast Members can receive those bags, however. Starting May 28, that means paying for those bags, as well.
I spoke with a Cast Member this morning. She would only say the benefit wasn’t listed in resort services. That’s not surprising. BlogMickey said the check-in perk is being communicated via word-of-mouth. Guests who meet the criteria should drop their bags at the “Luggage Assistance” desk at the front of the resort at least four hours before their flight. If that flight is before 1 PM, they’ll need to check in the night before.
You won’t be able to access your luggage after checking in, so be sure to pack a small bag with essentials like medications, IDs, etc.
This perk could expand to other Value Resorts soon. Let’s hope so. Resort Airline Check-In and Magical Express were shuttered during COVID. Losing them was a gut punch for Disney travelers. While I don’t have much hope for a Magical Express return, Resort Airline Check-In would be a huge win for guests, bringing back a little of that Disney travel magic.
