Disney PhotoPass Website Gets Major Redesign and Better Download Tools

Disney has rolled out a major update to its PhotoPass website, one that should make it much easier for guests to sort, download, and purchase their Walt Disney World photos. The new streamlined interface is another welcome improvement from Disney’s IT department.

For years, we’ve griped about the former site’s clunky user experience. Specifically, it was never obvious how to download all of your vacation photos at once. We even wrote an article about it to spare others from the same frustration.

Thankfully, the updated site addresses most of those issues. It’s still not perfect, but it’s way closer to what it needs to be.

Downloading all of your PhotoPass photos at once

Most people visiting the PhotoPass website have one goal: download all of their photos. To do that, you’ll first need to hover over any image in your library. A small checkbox appears in the upper-left corner of the photo. Click it, and additional tools slide into view.

Your selected image will be added to a tray at the top of the screen next to a download button. More importantly, you’ll see a checkbox labeled Select all visible media.

Before you click it, you may want to take advantage of the site’s updated filtering tools. A slider lets you include photos from linked friends & family accounts, while additional options allow you to sort photos by date or filter them to specific theme parks. Finding the images you’re actually looking for is considerably easier than it used to be.

Here’s our remaining complaint. Disney doesn’t load your entire photo library immediately. We understand why. Some guests have thousands of photos, and loading all of them at once isn’t great for bandwidth.

The catch is that Select all visible media only selects photos that have already loaded on the page. If you want your entire library, you’ll need to keep scrolling until every photo comes into view. As they load, you’ll see them added to the selection tray at the top of the screen.

Once everything appears, click the download button.

It’s a massive improvement over the old site. Sure, we’d love for the “select all” option to be visible from the start instead of hiding behind the first checkbox. But compared to what we had yesterday, this is a major win.

Linking photos

Disney has also simplified the process of linking photos to your account. Dedicated tabs allow you to choose the source of your photos:

• PhotoPass ID
• Ticket or Pass
• MagicBand
• Memory Maker

Each tab includes straightforward instructions, making it much simpler to figure out where your photos are and how to get them into your library.

Purchasing PhotoPass products

Guests can still buy Memory Maker, PhotoPass Archive USBs, prints, photo books, magnets, canvas prints, calendars, and other personalized products directly through the site. The ordering process is cleaner and easier to navigate than before.

The redesigned PhotoPass website is yet another win for Disney’s IT department. It takes a tool that was unnecessarily frustrating and makes it considerably easier to use, especially for guests trying to manage large photo libraries.

We’re told similar updates are rolling out to Disney Cruise Line’s photo service. Disneyland’s PhotoPass website hasn’t yet received the redesign.
