Disney Is Finally Fixing the Yeti on Expedition Everest
Gloria Gaynor just gave the Disco Yeti the tribute it deserves. During tonight’s Disney Experiences Showcase at D23, Gaynor performed I Will Survive following some very big news about Expedition Everest. Her opening “I was petrified” was the perfect reference to the attraction’s famously motionless Audio-Animatronic.
But he’s about to move again. Thomas Mazloum announced the news during the showcase:
“We’re bringing the Yeti back to life inside Expedition Everest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!”

The massive Audio-Animatronic hasn’t operated as intended for years. Instead, Disney has relied on a strobe light to create the illusion of movement as ride vehicles race past, earning the figure its fan-given “Disco Yeti” nickname.
Disney didn’t provide any additional details about the work or say when it will begin. Considering the Yeti’s size and the work needed to get it moving again, we expect Expedition Everest to close for a decent amount of time.
