Disney Announces 2024 Gingerbread Houses, Holiday Displays

With Halloween in the rearview mirror, it’s time for the holidays! The Disney culinary team is doing its part, transforming hotel lobbies and parks into a foodie’s dream. Disney is bringing back its iconic gingerbread houses while unveiling new holiday displays in 2024. Bakers have also dreamt up some tasty new treats (that I’ll be partaking in very soon). Let’s see what’s coming to Disney World and Disneyland this holiday season!

EPCOT

First up, Disney shared that a Gingerbread Spaceship Earth is coming to EPCOT’s CommuniCore Hall. Finally, we have a reason to hang out in that space! I kid, I kid.

Made up of over 1,000 gingerbread triangles, the mini geodesic sphere will also include 11 hidden Mickeys representing the 11 World Showcase countries.

“EPCOT will be home to a brand-new creation starting on November 29 – Gingerbread Spaceship Earth. This offering in CommuniCore Hall will feature Spaceship Earth in gingerbread form. The EPCOT Festival Team and Walt Disney Imagineering have teamed up with the talented EPCOT Pastry team to create this 8-foot-tall gingerbread display, which took over 160 hours. It even will light up and dance to music throughout the day.  

November 29?! I was so pumped to see this in person, but we’ll be back home by then. Oh well, we’ll have to settle for the Life-Size Baby Gingerbread Giraffe and Baby Zebra coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Animal Kingdom Lodge

“Back for its fourth year, the Life-Size Baby Gingerbread Giraffe and Baby Zebra displays will be trekking into the lobby of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge starting November 24.”

Wait, what?! We’re leaving November 24. Thank goodness we’re staying at Jambo. I’ll snap pics before we board the Tragical Express (Uber) back to the airport.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge bakery team created the display using gingerbread, sugar dough, and modeling chocolate. It stands 7 feet tall and features Ginger (baby giraffe) and Debra (baby zebra). For smaller treats, guests can enjoy the Gingeraffe Cookie and specialty cocktails. They can also purchase a limited-edition pin, cookie jar, and holiday ornament inspired by Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

The OG Disney gingerbread house is celebrating 25 years at the Grand Floridian. Starting November 6, guests entering the lobby will be treated to some incredible sites and smells. I’m floored every time I see the ingredients for this monster pastry:

  • 1050 pounds of honey
  • 800 pounds of flour
  • 600 pounds of confectioners’ sugar
• Decorations
  • 700 pounds of chocolate
  • 10,000 pieces of gingerbread
• Prep
  • 500 hours baking the gingerbread
  • 480 hours bringing all the dazzling details to life

This year’s creation includes 25 hidden Mickeys.

Guests without a hotel or dining reservation should park at the Transportation & Ticket Center and take the resort monorail. Don’t even try outsmarting those gatehouse Cast Members. They’re onto you!

Beach Club Resort

Beach Club is one year behind the Grand Floridian. Their Holiday Carousel is celebrating its 24th anniversary. This year, the spinning carousel’s horses are themed to Mickey’s Christmas Carol. Wanna know the stats?

• 200 pounds of icing
• 100 pounds of eggs
• 2024 pieces of gingerbread

The Yacht and Beach Bakery team also added 24 hidden Mickeys.

BoardWalk Inn

The BoardWalk Deli Gingerbread House is available starting November 12 (we’re trending in the right direction with these release dates!). This baked creation “is beautifully created with details that look just like the seaside escape, but just in a smaller and sweet form.” Disney didn’t share the recipe details, but we can assume the sugar was delivered on a large truck.

In addition to the gingerbread house, the BoardWalk Inn Bakery team also came up with a decadent menu.

Contemporary Resort

The Contemporary’s Castle Display is returning for its 13th year. Designed in part by Walt Disney Imagineers, this 17-foot-tall creation can be found on the resort’s fourth floor starting November 8. The Contemporary Bakery team shared the ingredients. It’s what I live for.

• 1013 pounds of flour
• 113 pounds of gingerbread spice
• 51 pounds of chocolate
• 4,000 castle gingerbread bricks
• pixie dust

The castle includes 13 hidden Mickeys and a 5-legged goat. Perfect.

Wilderness Lodge Gingerbread Treats

It doesn’t look like Wilderness Lodge will be getting a giant confection this year. No matter. It’s the most beautiful Disney World Resort lobby with or without one. The hotel will have some holiday sweets on sale starting November 21, however.

Grand Californian Hotel & Spa

The West Coast is getting some love, too. The Grand Californian is getting a gingerbread replica of the hotel, itself. Starting November 22, guests can take in the display that includes “Chip ‘n’ Dale in their pajama attire seen in Mickey’s Holiday Pajama Party Breakfast and Brunch at Storytellers Cafe.”

Haunted Mansion Holiday Gingerbread Display

Finally, Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion is getting Lil’ Franky, a Gigantic Gingerbread Zombie as part of the Haunted Mansion Holiday. This creation is a little smaller but still requires plenty of sugar:

• 60 pounds of gingerbread
• 50 pounds of powdered sugar
• 10 pounds of egg whites
• 30 pounds of rolled fondant
• 10 pounds of chocolate
• 2 hidden Mickeys
