Disney and TikTok Partner to Bring Creator Videos to Disney+
The Walt Disney Company and TikTok are teaming up to bring Disney-centric TikTok videos into Verts, the short-form feed inside the Disney+ app. The program will begin as a US pilot in the coming months, with additional markets expected to follow.
This isn’t quite like Disney’s partnership with Sora. Disney announced a three-year licensing agreement with OpenAI last December that would have allowed users to generate videos featuring more than 200 Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars characters. Select creations were also supposed to appear on Disney+.
But that partnership never got off the ground once OpenAI discontinued Sora in April. This new TikTok agreement is instead built around creators using assets from Disney’s existing film and television library. Those who opt into the program will be able to have their short-form videos appear on both TikTok and Disney+. TikTok will provide access to assets from Disney films and television shows.
Asad Ayaz, Disney’s Chief Marketing and Brand Officer, explains why the company opted to partner with TikTok creators:
“The best storytellers are fans first. This collaboration creates a new bridge between the stories we tell and the creativity they inspire, giving creators a bigger stage to share what they’ve made, and audiences more to discover on Disney+ every day.”
Verts were introduced in the Disney+ app earlier this year. For now, the vertical feed mostly contains short clips taken from Disney movies and television shows. As a sworn enemy of spoilers, I avoid that section. It has a habit of showing me scenes from movies I haven’t gotten around to watching yet.

The two companies are also creating a jointly run Disney Creator Ambassador Program, which will offer participating creators increased visibility, access to exclusive events, special rewards, and career-development opportunities.
According to TikTok’s internal data, users shared an average of 6.5 million film- and TV-related posts per day in 2026. Nearly half of those surveyed said they watched a movie or show after discovering related content on TikTok. That’s all you need to know to understand why Disney is making this deal.
