Disney Adventure Cruise Cancelled Due to Mechanical Issue in Singapore

The latest voyage of the Disney Adventure did not go off as planned. The four-night cruise was cancelled, forcing guests to disembark Disney’s newest ship. A Disney spokesperson shared the following message:

“The Disney Adventure remains in port in Singapore as our teams continue to address a mechanical issue. As the issue has not been resolved in the timeframe required to start this voyage, this current sailing has been cancelled. We apologize to our guests and are working directly to provide support for their travel needs.”

Those travel needs will not come cheap. Scott Sanders of DisneyCruiseLineBlog.com received a copy of the letter sent to guests on board, which detailed Disney’s compensation for affected passengers.

Guests will receive a full refund of their cruise fare, along with reimbursement for unused add-ons like WiFi and beverage packages. Disney is also offering a 50% discount on a future cruise. On top of that, the company booked hotel rooms for guests on May 8, will cover airline change fees, and is providing each stateroom with $500 for incidental expenses.

This isn’t an ideal situation for anyone involved, either Disney or families whose vacation plans unraveled in port. But sometimes mechanical issues happen, and cancelling a sailing is far better than risking problems once the ship is out at sea. Disney appears to be doing everything it can to soften the blow.

Disney expects the Adventure to set sail on its next cruise on May 11 as scheduled.
