Baby Elephant Corra Wows on Kilimanjaro Safaris
Baby Corra, Animal Kingdom’s newest elephant, put on an incredible show for Kilimanjaro Safaris guests in June. I had been waiting to meet her for months; I even booked a Caring for Giants tour in the hopes of seeing her. Unfortunately, she stayed out of sight for the hour we visited the savanna in April. But she more than made up for her absence last month.
Most Kilimanjaro Safaris regulars have been treated to special animal encounters. Before meeting Corra, my favorite was when a giraffe stood in front of our ride vehicle, refusing to budge until a Cast Member enticed her with an extra large salad. I thought we’d be getting a repeat performance in June as several giraffes crisscrossed the road. Cast Members call that a giraffic jam.
Dad jokes? This isn’t the Jungle Cruise.

I was bummed. Not because the giraffes were slowing us down, but because they were hanging around the ride vehicle directly in front of us. Little did I know that we’d be getting the best of this safari.
Meeting Corra
We found one of Corra’s aunts as soon as we entered the elephant habitat. Getting crips photos while bouncing over Animal Kingdom’s unpaved streets is always a challenge, but she made my job easy by standing so close to the road. This safari was looking up!

Then we came around a bend and found Corra. The entire vehicle was giddy. Can you blame us?
We finally met Corra! And she put on a show! pic.twitter.com/Kgjp1tnW9Z

Corra is young and rambunctious and awesome. While the rest of the herd is stoic and slow-moving, she’s full of energy. We found her splashing around her watering hole while her mother, Nadirah, stood sentry.

The Caring for Giants tour group got their money’s worth that day. You can see them standing behind the fence in the background.

Look at her ears!

We were treated to a couple more elephants before leaving their habitat.

I highly recommend riding Kilimanjaro Safaris on repeat until you meet Corra. But even if you don’t meet her, you’ll always have a unique experience. Maybe you’ll get stuck in a giraffic jam.
